Material

This table board is made from Kyushu-grown kaya and crafted from a single solid piece.
Kaya contains natural oils, which give the wood a gentle fragrance and a soft, understated luster.

The board is cut in straight grain (masame).
In this method, the grain runs in parallel lines across the surface, resulting in a calm and orderly appearance.

Construction

The board is formed from one solid piece of wood.
Because it is not laminated, the grain continues uninterrupted across the playing surface.

At 2.1-sun in thickness, this table board offers a practical balance between weight and usability.
It is suitable for regular, everyday play without requiring a dedicated floor setting.

Aging

There are stain marks visible on the end grain.
These are natural traces left by the movement of moisture during the sawing process.

Over time, the color tone gradually becomes more subdued.
The surface settles into a more unified appearance as the wood continues to age.

Consideration

A 2.1-sun single-piece straight-grain table board represents a moderate specification for daily use.
The natural marks and fragrance are characteristics of kaya itself.
